Reading Crossroads currently provide over 1000 hours of care per week, either by visiting carers in their own homes and staying with the person they care while they go out, or by people attending one of the five social day care clubs that we run.
Crossroads Care Reading also offers an Emergency Response Service, available to carers anytime of the day or night, 7 days a week, 365 days per year - free of charge It is there for you to call on if you find yourself in a position where you are unable to look after your dependant/s due to illness, hospitalisation of yourself, or a close member of the family. You may wake up with flu, develop a migraine, hurt your back, have any number of ailments, or just feel so tired and low that you cannot struggle to carry on. You may be out shopping and become delayed due to an accident, or some unforeseen emergency. Now there is no need to worry. Once you have registered with Crossroads Care Reading, a trained Carer Support Worker will be with you as soon as possible. The Emergency Response Service was requested by Carers for Carers, and we urge you to use the service when you have the need. Do not struggle alone through a setback, when a simple telephone call can bring you immediate practical help. As long as you are registered with Crossroads Care Reading, i.e. when our Manager has visited you to carry out an initial assessment and set up a contingency plan (what you would like to happen to the person you care for if you are unable to do so), then the service is immediately available to you. (As social services funds the hours we spend with you, we have to release your names and addresses to social services in the event of a call out) If you are a carer, or know a carer who is not registered with us then please ring Reading 0118 945 4209 and we will arrange to visit you within a couple of days.
