NHS England has declared 16 - 22 April 2018 as Diabetes Prevention Week.
About 3.4 million people in England have Type 2 diabetes and the costs of treatment amount to nearly £9 billion per year. Type 2 diabetes is a leading cause of preventable sight loss in people of working age and is a major contributor to kidney failure, heart attack, and stroke. Yet Type 2 Diabetes is largely preventable through lifestyle changes. Some five million people are in danger of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
